Anpo
O
.....the
awakening of the Dawn
Millennium 2004
Mission Statement: The mission of Anpo O is to empower American Indian people through the promotion of education, leadership, and self-reliance. In the service of humanity, we promote awareness while balancing the cultural core of traditional values of all people.Project Anpo O is a multi-faceted project developed by the MVCNA to provide clothing, school supplies, economic development opportunities, housing rehabilitation, and education through computer learning for the children and adults of the Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Reservations.
Anpo O is Lakota word which literally means "the moment preceding the birth of a new day" - as the sun first appears on the horizon. With the advancements in technology, we have arrived at the doorstep of a new day - a day that brings us closer to uniting as one people. Yet as the sun rises, we as a people must not forget the thorns while we appreciate the beauty of the rose.
As we express the present and reach for the future, our hearts and minds are in service to humanity, promoting education and teaching awareness through our efforts.
